Doctors, lawyers, engineer, journalists, politics affiliated, students, all sorts of people from the Hindu community gathered at the congregation premises as early as 6am.
Healthy harmony among religious sects is no stranger to this district. This initiative was taken to express solidarity and also to help evade incidents like that happened on last Eid in Sholakia.
“I feel great doing this for my Muslim brothers. Our humble effort was to ensure a peaceful environment for the Eid congregation,” reports Sylhettoday24.com quoting joint general secretary of Habiganj Puja Celebration Committee Tushar Modok as saying.
Its district secretary Shonkho Shubhro Roy told the online portal, “Our initiative was to make the social harmony even stronger. I am thankful that our Muslims brothers could offer prayers peacefully on the Eid day.”
On Saturday, a meeting was held at the conference room of the district administrator on the volunteer issue. Chaired by Lawmaker of Habiganj-3 constituency Md Abu Jahir, all the imams, khatibs and leaders of Eidgah committees of the district were present in the meeting.
