Another 18 flights scheduled to depart from Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport have been cancelled as King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, remains closed following Houthi attacks.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) public relations department disclosed the information on Monday afternoon.
Ten flights had been cancelled over the previous three days and until Monday morning, bringing the total number of cancellations to 28. The disruptions have left 4,851 passengers stranded at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
According to the CAAB, the flights were cancelled because operations at Riyadh airport have yet to resume.
Of the cancelled flights, four were operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, two by US-Bangla Airlines, three by Saudia Airlines, three by Riyadh Air and 16 by IndiGo Airlines.
The CAAB said further action would be taken once operations at Riyadh airport resume.
