Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has assured Abrar Fahad’s family that the murder case of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student will be brought to a speedy conclusion.
He gave the assurance when members of Abrar’s family met him at the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat on Thursday afternoon.
Abrar Fahad was a resident of BUET’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall and a second-year student of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department.
He was brutally beaten to death on the night of October 6, 2019, reportedly over a Facebook post concerning Bangladesh-India agreements and water-sharing issues.
Several leaders and activists of the then BUET Chhatra League unit were accused of involvement in the killing. They were later convicted and sentenced in the murder case.
