Disciplinary action has been taken against two Biman Bangladesh Airlines officials over a delay in delivering Zamzam water to passengers on a flight that arrived in Dhaka from Medina after an Umrah pilgrimage.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines General Manager Mohiuddin Ahmed, also serving as the public relations chief, confirmed the matter to the media on Thursday night.

The incident occurred after Biman flight BG338 landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 9:10am on Thursday.

The Zamzam water allocated for Umrah passengers on the flight was not delivered to the baggage belt on time.

According to a Biman press release, a preliminary investigation found that negligence in container offloading and operational handling caused the delay.

Biman took departmental action against Baggage In-charge Monirul Islam Pradhan and Flight Supervisor Saddam Hossain over negligence of duty.

The airline said that after learning about the delay, it immediately arranged Zamzam water from its reserved stock and distributed it among the Umrah pilgrims.

The other container was later located and delivered, it said.

Biman said it has strengthened internal monitoring to prevent similar incidents in the future and remains committed to providing uninterrupted service to passengers.
