BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) hosted the opening ceremony of “Interwoven Civilizations” – the 12th Belt & Road International Cultural and Art Week (Dhaka) on Tuesday, bringing together distinguished representatives from Bangladesh and China to celebrate cultural heritage and strengthen educational and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
The ceremony opened with a display showcasing the rich heritage of traditional Bangladeshi textiles and clothing, highlighting the country’s long-standing craftsmanship and distinctive cultural identity.
Md Nurul Haque, member of the Board of Trustees of BUFT and Managing Director of Sagar Garments Limited, attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Mesbah Uddin Ali, chairman of the BGMEA Standing Committee on BUFT Affairs, attended as a special guest on behalf of the President of BGMEA. Mr. Mohiuddin Taher, director of Shanto Mariam Honghe Confucius Classroom, was also present as a special guest.
Prof Dr Engr Ayub Nabi Khan, vice chancellor of BUFT, delivered the welcome speech. The programme was also addressed by Mr. Pu Bingyuan, Vice President of Chengdu Qinggong Polytechnic University, and Mr. Ge Zhenyu, President of the Textile and Garment Branch of the Chinese Enterprises Association in Bangladesh.
A significant highlight of the ceremony was the signing of a cooperation agreement with Leizu College (Bangladesh). The agreement is expected to further expand opportunities for educational and cultural collaboration between Bangladesh and China.
Prof Md Alamgir Hossain, Pro Vice Chancellor (Acting) and Treasurer of BUFT, delivered the vote of thanks, concluding the ceremony.
