The Special Response Battalion (SRB) has arrested three people during a raid in the Labanchora area of Khulna and recovered a foreign-made pistol and ammunition from their possession.
The arrestees are Mohammad Dalim Khan, Md Rana and Abdullah Al Noman alias Nayan. The SRB said Dalim had allegedly been running a criminal and extortion racket in the area for a long time.
SRB Legal and Media Wing Director Wing Commander M Z M Entekhab Chowdhury disclosed the information at a press briefing at the SRB Media Centre in Kawran Bazar, Dhaka, on Friday.
He said Dalim had allegedly been involved in criminal activities and extortion in the area for a long time. Seven cases have been filed against him with Labanchora Police Station in Khulna Metropolitan Police area over various offences, including arms and violence-related crimes.
A new case has been filed against the three under the Arms Act at Labanchora police station. They were handed over to the police along with the recovered firearm and ammunition.
