Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Tuesday said two persons suspected of throwing crude bombs in front of the Supreme Court’s (SC) main gate have been identified through CCTV footage.
The suspects may be members of the banned Awami League, he said, adding that authorities are investigating the incident.
“Legal action will be taken after a proper investigation,” the home minister told journalists after chairing a coordination meeting on preventing traffic congestion caused by mega projects in Dhaka.
The meeting was held at the conference room of the Ministry of Home Affairs at the secretariat.
The crude bombs were reportedly thrown from a motorcycle shortly after the International Crimes Tribunal sentenced seven people, including Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, to death over crimes committed during the July uprising.
Ahmed described the incident as a reaction to the tribunal’s verdict that sentenced death to seven Awami fascists.
Regarding the banned Awami League’s recent procession in Gulshan, the home minister said law enforcement agencies were maintaining heightened vigilance over sporadic processions and other activities by banned organizations.
He added that necessary measures had been taken to maintain law and order.
