PM urges clear communication of govt plans to media

If media has clear understanding of government’s plans, it will be able to present them accurately to people as well, Tarique says

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has stressed the need for the government to clearly communicate its objectives and plans to the media, saying fragmented information could create confusion.

“It is necessary to clearly present the government’s objectives and plans to the media. Otherwise, various kinds of confusion may arise from fragmented information,” he said.

The prime minister made the remarks during an exchange of views with business leaders and media personalities at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Secretariat on Monday afternoon.

During the three-hour discussion, participants shared their opinions on various issues.

Tarique said that if the media had a clear understanding of the government’s plans, it would be able to present them accurately to the people as well.

The prime minister said an effective team was needed to successfully accomplish any major task.

“An effective team is needed to successfully accomplish any major task. Everyone concerned in the government is working together so that positive changes can be brought to the livelihoods of people from different classes and professions through implementation of the plans,” he said.

Addressing representatives of the business community and media, Tarique said: “You will cooperate with us so that we can do something better for you.”

Also present at the meeting were Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Finance and Planning Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, and Prime Minister’s Adviser on Education, Expatriates’ Welfare and Labor and Employment Mahdi Amin.
