Two books authored by former Bangladeshi diplomats - "Serendipity in Diplomacy, Between Protocol & Politics", a memoir by Ambassador Mahmud Hasan and "In Search of a Role Model" by Ambassador M Fazlul Karim - were launched in Dhaka on Saturday.
The books were launched at a programme organised by the Association of Former Ambassadors of Bangladesh (AOFA) at the Foreign Service Academy.
Ambassador Farooq Sobhan, a former foreign secretary and former ambassador, attended the programme as the chief guest.
Ambassador Golam Mohammad, Secretary General of AOFA, delivered the welcome remarks, while AOFA President Ambassador Abdullah Al-Hasan moderated the discussion sessions on both books.
A discussion on Hasan’s memoir featureed Ambassador Hemayet Uddin and Sajjadur Rahman as discussants
Ambassador Farooq Sobhan spoke on the book before Ambassador Mahmud Hasan delivered his remarks.
The memoir was then formally launched in the presence of the author, the chief guest, AOFA president and the discussants.
The second session focused on Ambassador M. Fazlul Karim’s In Search of a Role Model. Ambassador Shahed Akhtar, Vice President of AOFA, introduced the book.
Ambassador AFM Gousal Azam Sarker, Ambassador Md Shameem Ahsan and a Director General/Director of the Islamic Foundation participated in the discussion.
Ambassador Farooq Sobhan delivered remarks on the book, followed by remarks from the author, Ambassador M Fazlul Karim.
The book was subsequently launched in the presence of the author, the chief guest, AOFA president and the discussants.
A good number of former Ambassadors, former Secretaries, Representative from civil society and media were present, among others.
The event ended with a lunch with traditional cuisine.
