The government kept fuel prices unchanged for an extended period despite rising global oil prices amid the Middle East conflict, while ensuring uninterrupted supply, Prime Minister's Adviser and his office spokesperson Mahdi Amin has said.

He made the comment at a press conference at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka, on Monday, marking 180 days of the government.

“Although oil prices increased in various countries due to the war in the Middle East, the government did not raise fuel prices for a long time. Instead, it ensured uninterrupted supply,” Mahdi said.

He said the government also kept commodity prices under control during Ramadan and took measures to prevent syndicates and artificial price hikes after assuming office.

Mahdi also said there had been no labour unrest during Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha after a long period.

“The government took firm measures by bringing together workers, employers, trade associations and business associations to ensure that every worker received their outstanding wages and bonuses,” he said.
