Information and Broadcasting Adviser Dr Zahed Ur Rahman has urged citizens to submit specific complaints with relevant details to the authorities over excessive electricity and fuel bills, rather than making general allegations.
He made the call during a weekly briefing at the Press Information Department’s conference room at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
He said citizens facing excessive bills should first submit a written complaint to the relevant local authority. If the authority refuses to accept the complaint or fails to provide a remedy, that should also be clearly reported.
Zahed said similar complaints had been received in the past and necessary action was taken after verification.
He said he had discussed the issue with the energy minister and that the Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources was willing to seriously examine complaints regarding excessive bills.
He added that the ministry was committed to ensuring proper redress for citizens and would take necessary action after verifying specific complaints.
