Three youths were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between two motorcycles in Azmiriganj upazila of Habiganj on Thursday evening.
The accident occurred around 6:30 pm on the Jalsukha New Bridge in the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Tanvir Thakur, 18, son of Ful Mia Thakur of Amirkhani area in Baniachang upazila; Abidul Laskar, 32, son of Nurul Laskar of the same area; and Ontor, 25, son of Chandan of Paharpur area in Azmiriganj upazila.
The injured are identified as Shahidul Islam Bacchu of Shekhergaon village and Mizan Mia of Thoigaon village in Chunarughat upazila.
According to police, the two motorcycles collided head-on on the Jalsukha Bridge, leaving Tanvir dead on the spot.
The four injured were rushed to Habiganj District Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared Abidul Laskar and Ontor dead. The remaining two are receiving treatment, reports Bangla Tribune.
Azmiriganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Akbar Hossain said one victim died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries after being taken to the hospital.
He added that legal action would be taken following an investigation if the victims' families file a complaint.
