The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed in 11 flood-affected districts to support rescue, relief and security operations as relentless rainfall, flash floods, flooding and landslides continue to devastate parts  of the country.

According to the BGB headquarters, personnel have been deployed in Bandarban, Cox's Bazar, Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Chittagong, Feni, Sylhet, Habiganj, Sunamganj, Netrokona and Jamalpur to assist affected communities.

The deployment was confirmed by the BGB headquarters.

The force is providing safe shelter, distributing relief supplies, offering emergency medical assistance, restoring damaged communication links and securing vulnerable infrastructure.

BGB said it has established round-the-clock monitoring and response operations at 90 points across the affected districts to ensure immediate rescue and humanitarian assistance wherever needed.

In Bandarban, BGB has so far rescued more than 600 people from 122 families, including 116 tourists, relocated them to safe shelters, distributed food assistance and provided emergency medical treatment to 48 people. The force has also helped restore traffic on the Bandarban- Rowangchhari Road by clearing fallen trees and debris.

In Naikhongchhari, BGB has taken emergency preventive measures to protect a steel bridge weakened by soil erosion, ensuring safe public movement.

The border force said its coordinated response, rapid deployment and humanitarian assistance are playing a crucial role in easing the suffering of flood victims. It reaffirmed that, alongside safeguarding the country's borders, responding to disasters and humanitarian crises remains one of its core responsibilities.

BGB said its rescue, relief, medical and other humanitarian operations will continue until the flood situation returns to normal and the safety and well-being of affected people are ensured.
