Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan on Saturday said the world is grappling with deep and multidimensional crises, asserting that enduring solutions to conflicts driven by ethnic, religious, linguistic, cultural and geographical identities can only be achieved through dialogue, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence, not domination.
He made the remarks while inaugurating the website of the Al Ummah Foundation and the Al Ummah Journal at a hotel in the capital.
"Respect for diversity and the promotion of shared human values are indispensable to the sustainable advancement of human civilization," the minister said.
The minister described ethnic, religious, linguistic, cultural and geographical identities as natural manifestations of human diversity, saying no individual, nation or ideology can realistically establish global dominance or achieve lasting peace through supremacy.
He said many of today's conflicts are rooted in identity-based divisions and called on researchers, scholars and representatives of different schools of thought to foster a common humanitarian vision grounded in dialogue, understanding and mutual respect.
"History has repeatedly shown that war, the use of force and the pursuit of dominance have never produced lasting solutions. It is the exchange of ideas, the pursuit of knowledge and mutual respect that have advanced human civilization," he said.
