PM urges students to become skilled, responsible citizens

He makes the remarks while hosting students from 3 educational and social organizations at parliament

The country’s future depends on the next generation’s ability to build a developed and prosperous Bangladesh by preparing themselves as skilled, competent and responsible citizens, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said on Sunday.

Addressing students during a luncheon at the VIP Cafeteria of the National Parliament, the prime minister urged them to pursue academic excellence while also participating in sports to develop into well-rounded individuals.

“The present generation is the future of the country. You must prepare yourselves to build a developed and prosperous Bangladesh,” Tarique Rahman told the students.

The event brought together 29 law students from the Canadian University of Bangladesh, 21 underprivileged students and teachers accompanied by Suravi, a partner organisation of the Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPE), and 16 students and teachers from the Tejgaon College Debating Society.

During the program, the prime minister exchanged views with the students, enquired about their studies and encouraged them to strengthen their knowledge, skills and sense of responsibility.

The students and teachers thanked the prime minister for hosting the luncheon and interacting with them.

Earlier, as part of their visit to parliament, the students were briefed on the activities of the National Parliament Secretariat, visited the parliament library, toured the North Plaza, took part in a photo session and observed parliamentary proceedings from the visitors’ gallery.
