A mild earthquake jolted Dhaka and several other parts of Bangladesh on Monday night.
According to the officials at the Earthquake Observation and Research Centre of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the tremor was felt around 9:28pm (Bangladesh time). It measured 4.0 on the Richter scale.
The epicentre of the earthquake was located in Rupganj, Narayanganj. It was about 16 kilometres east of Agargaon in Dhaka.
The tremor follows a series of recent earthquakes felt in the country. On June 18, a 4.4-magnitude earthquake was recorded at 9:29pm. Earlier, a 4.5-magnitude tremor struck at 9:40pm on June 11, while a stronger 5.6-magnitude earthquake was felt at 11:37pm on June 7.
