The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has foiled an attempt by the Border Security Force (BSF) to push 20 people into Bangladesh through the Chowka border in Shibganj Upazila of Chapainawabganj. The incident took place on Friday night.

Following resistance from the BGB, the individuals are currently staying on the Indian side of the zero line along the border. Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury, commanding officer of BGB Battalion 59, confirmed the matter on Saturday morning.

Tajul Islam Chowdhury said: “Due to the vigilance and prompt action of the BGB patrol team, we were able to prevent the attempt to push in 20 people. They are currently staying at the zero line.”

According to BGB and local sources, the BSF attempted to push the 20 individuals into Bangladesh through the Chowka border late Friday night. The group included 11 women, four children, and five men. After detecting the attempt, BGB personnel prevented them from entering Bangladesh. Faced with BGB’s resistance, the group remained on the Indian side of the zero line.
