Garment workers blocked the Mohakhali–Tejgaon road in Dhaka on Tuesday, demanding payment of their outstanding wages.
The workers took to the streets in the morning, bringing traffic to a standstill on both sides of the road.
SI Farhana Sultana of Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station said: "Workers of NASA Garments have been blocking the Mohakhali–Tejgaon road since morning. As a result, vehicular movement on both sides of the road has come to a complete halt. Our senior officials are at the scene and are requesting the workers to clear the road."
Meanwhile, the blockade has triggered severe traffic congestion in the area. Commuters and office-goers have been suffering immense inconvenience due to the disruption.
