A diving team from the Fire Service is conducting rescue operations for the second consecutive day following the capsizing of a cattle-laden boat in the Padma River in Munshiganj, which left a trader missing.
However, operations are being hampered by strong currents and adverse weather conditions in the river.
On Monday (25 May) around 2:30 PM, the cattle-laden trawler capsized near Pillar No. 15 of the Padma Bridge while on its way from Char Bhadrasan in Faridpur to Keraniganj.
Shafiqur Rahman, deputy assistant director of Munshiganj Fire Service, stated that rescue operations have been carried out at various points of the Padma River since Tuesday morning to find the missing person.
However, the rescue operation is facing disruptions due to strong currents and unfavorable weather in the Padma River.
The official added that the operation will continue until the missing person is found.
There were 28 cows and a total of 16 people, including the boatmen, on board the trawler.
Among them, 5 cows managed to swim ashore, while the remaining 23 cows were washed away.
Although 15 people on the boat managed to swim safely to the shore, one individual named Ayub Ali, the cattle trader, still remains missing.
