Police have arrested a bus driver following a collision between a Trust minibus and a vehicle carrying State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed in the capital’s Banani area.
Banani Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Mehedi Hasan said that the accident occurred around 9:50pm on Tuesday beneath the Chairmanbari foot overbridge in Banani, when a Trust minibus hit the vehicle carrying the state minister.
The minister’s vehicle was damaged in the incident, he said, adding that police detained the bus driver, identified as Omar Faruk, 25, from the scene.
Following the incident, the state minister’s gunman filed a case with Banani Police Station. The driver was later shown arrested in the case and sent to court.
