Bangladeshi student Nahida Sultana Bristy, who had been missing in the United States, has been killed, her family has confirmed.

Her brother, Zahid Hasan Prant, told the media that police informed him about the death after conducting a DNA test on body parts recovered from a residence. “They told me the DNA matched my sister. However, it is still uncertain whether the full body will be recovered,” he said.

Nahida was a former student of the 13th batch of the Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (ACCE) department at Noakhali University of Science and Technology.

Her death has cast a pall of grief over her family, who have demanded a proper investigation and justice for those responsible.

Earlier, authorities recovered the body of another missing Bangladeshi student, Jamil Limon, in the same case. According to local law enforcement in Hillsborough County, his body was found near the Howard Frankland Bridge in Tampa, Florida.

Police have arrested a suspect, 26-year-old Hisham Saleh Abugharbeh, in connection with the disappearances. He was reportedly Jamil’s roommate and is currently being questioned. Authorities said further details will be disclosed after interrogation.

Jamil Limon was pursuing a PhD in the Department of Geography, Environment and Policy at the University of South Florida. Nahida was engaged in doctoral research in chemical engineering in the US.
