Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Saturday said the government’s success lies in not increasing fuel prices in Bangladesh, even as prices have risen in many neighboring countries and around the world.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after a meeting of the ruling party’s parliamentary committee held at the parliament building on Saturday afternoon, chaired by the prime minister.
Salahuddin said the meeting discussed who would speak on which issues regarding the president’s address. It also reviewed what the BNP has achieved within one month of assuming responsibility, along with the challenges ahead.
He said the government is supplying fuel with subsidies to ensure that farmers do not face difficulties during the Boro season.
The minister further said fuel smuggling has come to the government’s attention, adding that strict measures will be taken to curb smuggling.
