Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s political adviser and BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas, is now undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital, where his health condition is reported to be gradually improving.
According to the BNP media cell, the update was provided citing Social Welfare minister Dr AZM Zahid Hossain and Mirza Abbas’s personal assistant secretary Mizanur Rahman Sohel.
Dr Zahid Hossain said that several of Abbas’s physical parameters have shown encouraging progress. However, he cautioned that due to complications involving the brain, a full recovery may take time. “His condition is improving,” he added.
Mirza Abbas was flown to Singapore by an air ambulance on March 15 after his health deteriorated in Dhaka.He is currently under close observation by specialist physicians.
Earlier, on March 11, Abbas suddenly lost consciousness while drinking water during iftar. When his condition did not improve, he was admitted late that night to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
Mirza Abbas was elected as a Member of Parliament from the Dhaka-8 constituency in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
His wife Afroza Abbas, president of the Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal, has requested prayers from the nation for his speedy recovery.
