State Minister Aminul clarifies statement again regarding Zaima Rahman

State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque has spoken again regarding the matter of Zaima Rahman, daughter of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, getting an opportunity to play for Chelsea’s age-level team.

On Monday (March 23) night, he posted on his verified Facebook account, where he once again clarified his position regarding Zaima playing for Chelsea.

In the post, the state minister wrote: “Recently, the kind of statements being spread centered around a discussion of mine regarding Zaima Rahman’s passion for football and her getting an opportunity in Chelsea’s age-level team is highly undesirable. I want to clarify with great humility that the main objective of my statement was to highlight the sporting talent of a meritorious student alongside her studies. This was a personal observation and discussion, which leaves no room for being diverted into a different channel.”

Requesting in the post, Aminul wrote: “I request everyone concerned not to present a personal statement in a satirical way or to misinterpret it. If anyone has been hurt by factual confusion or my statement, I sincerely express my regret for that.”

He had stated recently that Zaima Rahman received an opportunity to play as a goalkeeper for the women's team of the famous London club, Chelsea.

Following this, discussions and criticisms began regarding the matter.

The issue became a trending topic on social media. Aminul Haque had also spoken out regarding his comments on Sunday.
