The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment will keep its controlroom operational throughout the Eid holidays to ensure the welfare of expatriates amid the ongoing war situation in the Middle East.

According to an office order signed on March 16 by Senior Assistant Secretary Rozlin Shahid Chowdhury, the control room will operate round-the-clock, seven days a week, until March 24.

A total of 20 officers and 24 employees will perform duties in three shifts on a rotational basis.

The control room has been set up at the Probashi Call Center, Lift-7, Probashi Kalyan Bhaban in Eskaton, Dhaka. The hotline numbers are 16135 (toll-free) for calls from within the country and +8809610102030 for calls from abroad.

The office order further states that Barrister Md Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, director general of the Wage Earners’ Welfare Board, will oversee the overall management of the control room. Md Hedayetul Islam Mondal, deputy secretary of the ministry’s Employment-1 branch, will serve as the focal point officer.

As part of their responsibilities, officers on duty will maintain communication with labor welfare wings abroad as needed, considering the war situation in the Middle East. They will also collect information in a prescribed format and submit it to the focal point officer.

The ministry established the control room on March 10 to ensure the welfare of expatriates amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
