Bangladesh marks the historic March 7 Saturday , commemorating the landmark speech delivered by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1971 that galvanized the nation’s struggle for independence.
On this day, the founding leader of Bangladesh addressed a massive gathering at the then Ramna Race Course Ground—now known as Suhrawardy Udyan—amid escalating tensions with the Pakistani military regime. In his historic address, Bangabandhu called upon the people to prepare for the struggle for freedom and laid out directives for civil resistance across the country.
