The death toll from the gas-leak fire in Halishahar, Chittagong, has risen to five after another burn victim died on Wednesday.
Shakhawat Hossain, 49, died at 10:40am while undergoing treatment in the ICU at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka.
Resident Surgeon Shaon Bin Rahman confirmed the death, saying Shakhawat had suffered 100% burns.
Earlier, Pakhi Akter, 35, died around 11pm on Tuesday while receiving treatment at the same institute, according to Assistant Professor Shawon Bin Rahman.
The fire broke out at a house in the Halishahar area of Chittagong early Monday.
Nine people with critical burn injuries were transferred to Dhaka that night for advanced treatment.
Nurjahan Akter Rani, 40, died on Monday night while being taken from Chittagong to Dhaka. Her 16-year-old son Shawon died around 7am on Tuesday, while Samir Ahmed, 40, succumbed to his injuries around noon the same day.
