A worker of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh was caught red-handed in the capital’s Sutrapur on Wednesday while preparing to distribute cash and was sentenced to two days in jail through a summary trial conducted on the spot.
The convicted individual was identified as Habibur Rahman, 63
Lalbagh Division Special Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman handed down the sentence.

Law enforcers seized 12 envelopes filled with cash from his possession. Each envelope contained Tk 500, totaling Tk 6,000. The seized money was confiscated in favor of the state.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued by Muhammad Talebur Rahman, PPM, deputy commissioner (Media and Public Relations) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
