57,000 tonnes of wheat arrive from the US

Out of the 57,003 tonnes of wheat, 34,320 tonnes will be unloaded in Chittagong and the remaining 22,443 tonnes will be unloaded at Mongla Port

A ship carrying 57,003 tonnes of wheat from the United States has arrived at the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port.

The Food Ministry announced this in a press release on Monday (January 19).

The release said that Bangladesh has already started wheat import activities from the United States on a government-to-government basis.

A total of 220,000 tonnes of wheat will be imported under the G2G-02 agreement. As the second shipment of this agreement, the MV. Clipper Isadora ship carrying 57,003 tonnes of wheat is now at the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port.

It also said that out of the 57,003 tonnes of wheat, 34,320 tonnes will be unloaded in Chittagong and the remaining 22,443 tonnes will be unloaded at Mongla Port.

The release further said that the process of testing samples of wheat kept on the ship has already started. It was said that necessary measures will be taken to unload the wheat quickly after the sample testing.

Earlier, the first shipment of 56,890 tonnes of wheat arrived in the country from the United States.
