Zeebu, the pet cat of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s family, has reached Bangladesh from London along with the family on Thursday.
BNP’s verified Facebook page announced Zeebu’s arrival shortly after 12pm, sharing a photo with the caption: “Zeebu has arrived too.”
Earlier, the flight carrying Tarique Rahman landed at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. He was accompanied by his wife Zobaida Rahman and daughter Zaima Rahman.
Tarique Rahman had previously shared photos with Zeebu on social media, which quickly became popular online. The cat has often been seen around him in various photos and videos.
In an interview with BBC Bangla about Zeebu, Tarique Rahman said: “The cat belongs to my daughter, but now she belongs to everyone. We all adore her.”
After 17 years in exile, Tarique Rahman returned to Bangladesh on Thursday.
The Biman Bangladesh flight carrying him from London, via Sylhet, touched down at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:40am.
