A burglary has taken place at the village home of Sharif Osman Hadi, convener of Inqilab Mancha, who was shot in Dhaka. The incident occurred on Friday night at the house located in the Khasmahal area of Nalchiti upazila in Jhalokathi.
Hadi’s cousin, Sirajul Islam, said that the thieves broke a window and entered the house taking advantage of no one being present. “We have not yet been able to determine how much property was stolen,” he added.
Nalchiti Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ariful Alam said: “We came to the scene after receiving the information. Our investigation is ongoing.”
Meanwhile, at around 2:15pm on Friday, miscreants shot Hadi in the Bijoynagar area of the capital. After being shot, he was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors performed a brain surgery and kept his skull open before transferring him to Evercare Hospital in the Bashundhara Residential Area. He is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and doctors have said his condition remains critical.
Upon hearing the news of his shooting, family members left for Dhaka later that afternoon.
