Journalist Ibrahim Azad passes away

National Press Club leaders expressed deep sorrow over Ibrahim Azad’s death, praying for his soul and condoling with his family

Ibrahim Azad, a permanent member of the National Press Club and senior journalist, has passed away. He was 63.

He fell ill at his residence in Dhaka's Gulshan on Sunday and was taken to United Hospital, where the attending doctors declared him dead, according to a press on Monday.

Ibrahim is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter, and numerous relatives, colleagues, and admirers.

Ibrahim Azad joined Ekushey Television in 1999 at its inception as a planning editor. He later served as news editor for Deepto TV, Ekhon TV, and News 24. He also worked with ATN Bangla, Prothom Alo, Bhorer Kagoj, and other media outlets.

On Monday, he was buried in his family graveyard in Hathazari, Chittagong, following a funeral at the National Press Club at noon.

National Press Club President Hasan Hafiz and General Secretary Ayub Bhuiyan expressed sorrow over Ibrahim Azad’s passing. In a statement, they prayed for the departed soul and extended heartfelt condolences to his grieving family.
