The government has removed the names of 53 “July fighters” from the official list published in the gazette, following complaints and reports of irregularities.
According to a notification issued by the Liberation War Ministry on Monday, all 53 individuals stripped of their status as “July fighters” were from the Rangpur Division.
Earlier, on August 3, eight people from different parts of the country lost their status in a similar order after discrepancies were detected during the verification process.
According to official statistics, the total number of July warriors stands at 13,800, while the number of martyrs is 836.
