Leaders of religious parties and organizations from five countries are participating in the “International Khatm-e-Nubuwwat Grand Conference” at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka.

The gathering began Saturday morning. Salahuddin Ahmed, a prominent BNP leader, is also attending the conference.

The grand conference is organized by the Combined Khatm-e-Nubuwwat Council and overseen in Bangladesh by the Khatm-e-Nubuwwat Protection Committee.

According to a source, BNP’s participation is primarily political, aimed at focusing on elections — the party’s main goal for the past 16 years. The source added that direct representation of the people has not yet been fully ensured.

Participants include Muslims from across Bangladesh. Security has been heightened around Suhrawardy Udyan for the event, with volunteers from the Khatm-e-Nubuwwat Protection Committee Bangladesh maintaining order.

Notable foreign participants include:

Among Bangladesh’s top religious scholars attending are Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari, Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, Mamunul Haque, Khalil Ahmad Qureshi, Mahmudul Hasan, and Mufti Muhammad Abdul Malek (Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque).

The conference is being presided over by Maulana Abdul Hamid (Pir Sahib, Madhupur).
