A prisoner has died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
The deceased was Md Mamunur Rashid, 34, son Haji Shahidul Islam.
He was brought from Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj to the hospital around 4:15 pm on Thursday by several prison guards, including Md Bellal Hossain, after falling ill. The on-duty doctors examined him and declared him dead.
Inspector Md Faruk, in charge of the DMCH police outpost, confirmed the death and said the body was kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
The guards could not immediately provide details about the case for which Rashid was imprisoned but said information would be available later.
