The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will begin selling essential commodities in Dhaka and several other areas from Sunday.
The sales will continue alongside its regular subsidized program for smart family cardholders, the state-run agency said in a press release on Saturday.
Each truck will serve around 500 customers daily, selling soybean oil, sugar, and lentils at reduced prices for all consumers. Under the program, 2 litres of soybean oil will be sold at Tk230, 1kg of sugar at Tk80, and 2kg of lentils at Tk140.
In Dhaka, 60 trucks will operate from Sunday to September 13, excluding Fridays. Similar mobile truck sales will be conducted in Chittagong city (25 trucks), Gazipur city (6), Cumilla city (3), Dhaka district (8), Cumilla district (12), Faridpur district (4), Patuakhali district (5) and Bagerhat district (5) from Sunday to August 31, also excluding Fridays.
Prices for smart family cardholders will remain unchanged.
