A total of 8,606 pilgrims have returned to Bangladesh as of Wednesday following the completion of the Hajj.
Of them, 837 pilgrims had gone to Saudi Arabia through the government-managed system and 7,769 returned via private arrangements, as per information obtained from the government Hajj bulletin.
According to the bulletin, Biman Bangladesh Airlines transported 1,409 pilgrims, Saudia transported 3,185 pilgrims, and Flynas transported 4,012 pilgrims.
In total, there have been 22 return flights so far. Biman operated four flights, Saudia eight, and Flynas 10.
This year, 23 Bangladeshi pilgrims passed away in Saudi Arabia — 21 men and two women.
Return Hajj flights will continue until July 10.
A total of 87,157 Bangladeshis performed Hajj this year.
The pilgrimage took place on June 5.
The first flight carrying pilgrims from Bangladesh departed on April 29 and the last outbound flight was on May 31.
