An allocation of Tk40,698 crore has been earmarked for the Ministry of Defence in the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2025–26.
Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed presented the proposed budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, amounting to Tk7,89,999 crore, in a televised speech on Monday.
Of the total defence budget, Tk37,812 crore has been allocated for operational expenditures of defence services.
Development expenditure has been set at Tk916 crore.
An additional Tk1,923 crore has been allocated for the operational costs of other services under the ministry, while Tk47 crore has been set aside for the operational costs of the Armed Forces Division (AFD).
