Prof Yunus opens 2nd phase of Consensus Commission dialogue

Leaders from 28 of 32 expected parties, including Jamaat, NCP, BNP, Ganosamhati and AB Party, joined the talks

The second phase of the National Consensus Commission’s dialogue with political parties has officially been inaugurated by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Monday.

The meeting is taking place at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital.

Leaders from 28 out of the expected 32 parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami, National Citizen Party (NCP), BNP, Ganosamhati Andolon and AB Party, have joined the talks.

The National Consensus Commission’s dialogue, led by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, aims to resolve remaining political disputes after meeting 33 parties during its first phase from February 15 to May 19.

The National Consensus Commission was established to review and finalize the recommendations submitted by five key reform commissions, which were formed to address issues related to the Constitution, the Judiciary, the Electoral System, Public Administration and the Anti-Corruption Commission.
