An allocation of Tk12,678 crore has been proposed for the Technical and Madrasa Education Division in the national budget for fiscal year 2025–26.
In comparison, the allocation in the 2024–25 budget was Tk11,783 crore, marking an increase of Tk895 crore.
Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed presented the proposed budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, amounting to Tk7,89,999 crore, in a televised speech on Monday.
According to the adviser, the current enrolment rate in technical education stands at 19%.
To raise it to 20% by 2025, the government is setting up women’s polytechnics and engineering colleges at the divisional level, polytechnic institutes at the district level, and technical schools at the upazila level.
He further said that the construction of 1,135 madrasa buildings has been completed, while work on 513 multi-storey buildings is underway. Multimedia classrooms have been installed in 493 madrasas.
He also said that the government has proposed allocating Tk728 crore for scholarships at the ibtedayi level and for MPO inclusion of madrasas.
