125C allocation proposed for women entrepreneurs

Women are being trained through women’s training centres at the upazila level to help them become self-reliant

In the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, a special fund of Tk125 crore has been allocated for women entrepreneurs.

This allocation was proposed by Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed with the aim of economically empowering women and creating a supportive environment for their businesses.

Salehuddin presented the proposed budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, amounting to Tk7,89,999 crore, in a televised speech at 3pm on Monday.

In his speech, the finance adviser said: “A separate fund of Tk125 crore has been proposed to encourage women entrepreneurs and to energize their business initiatives.”

He further mentioned that skill-based programs are being implemented under the National Women’s Training and Development Academy to ensure women’s safety and empowerment.

Salehuddin also said that, under the social security program aimed at women’s empowerment and poverty alleviation, 20,000 selected women have already received various training through the VGD (Vulnerable Group Development) program.

The finance adviser expressed hope that the proposed allocation and related activities will further strengthen women’s participation in the economy and create new opportunities for their self-employment.
