62,883 Bangladeshi pilgrims reach Saudi Arabia for Hajj

So far, 10 pilgrims have died during the pilgrimage

A total of 62,883 pilgrims have so far arrived in Saudi Arabia to perform the holy Hajj.

The information was disclosed in the latest Hajj bulletin issued on Monday.

They reached Saudi Arabia on 163 government and private flights as of 2:59am on Sunday night.

Among them, 4,583 pilgrims travelled under government arrangements, while 58,300 went under private management.

 A total of 86,927 visas have been issued, which accounts for 100% of the allocated quota for both government and private arrangements.

According to the bulletin, of the 163 flights, 85 were operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 57 by Saudia Airlines, and 21 by Flynas Airlines.

So far, 10 pilgrims have died during the pilgrimage, eight men and two women.

The deceased are: Hafez Uddin, 73, from Bakshiganj, Jamalpur; Khalilur Rahman from Rajbari; Md Fariduzzaman from Kishoreganj; Al Hamida Banu from Panchagarh; Md Shahjahan Kabir from Mohammadpur, Dhaka; Foyez Uddin, 72, from Nilphamari; Ohidur Rahman, 72, from Sandwip, Cittagong; Joynal Hossain, 60, from Sadar, Gazipur; Abdul Hannan Molla, 63, from Matlab, Chandpur; and Saheb Uddin, 60, from Pirganj, Rangpur.

The first dedicated Hajj flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, carrying 398 pilgrims, departed for Saudi Arabia on April 29, officially marking the beginning of this year’s Hajj journey. The final outbound Hajj flight is scheduled for May 31.

This year, 5,200 pilgrims will perform Hajj under government management, while 81,900 will go through private arrangements.

Based on moon sightings in Saudi Arabia, Hajj is expected to take place on June 5.

A total of 70 Hajj agencies are participating in this year’s pilgrimage.

Hajj flights began on April 29 and will continue until May 31. Return flights for pilgrims will begin on June 10 and continue until July 10.
