Amid discussions surrounding the arrest of actor Nusraat Faria, Hasnat Abdullah, chief organizer (south) of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has said such actions do not reflect justice but rather represent a "Sheikh Hasina-style diversion of attention."
Hasnat made the comment on Facebook on Monday, reports Bangla Tribune.
Hasnat wrote: “A killer directly involved in murder is allowed to safely leave the country, and Shirin Sharmin (Chaudhury) is issued a passport at her home under state supervision. Although the second [International Crimes] Tribunal was scheduled for January, it still has not commenced work as of May.”
He further added: “Where is the list of the 626 people, interim [government]? After safely allowing 626 people to leave, you now arrest Nusraat Faria in an [attempted] murder case to make it appear as if you are delivering justice? This is not justice, this is Hasina-style diversion of attention.”
Earlier, on Sunday, police detained Nusrat Faria at Dhaka airport.
Later, she was officially shown arrested in a case filed over the attempted murder of Enamul Haque, filed at Vatara police station, during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
