48,661 Bangladeshi pilgrims reach Saudi Arabia for Hajj

So far, seven pilgrims have died during the pilgrimage

A total of 48,661 Bangladeshi pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia on 123 Hajj flights this year so far.

The information was disclosed in a report issued by the Ashkona Hajj Office on Saturday, reports Bangla Tribune.

According to the report, as of 10am on Saturday, 123 flights operated by three airlines have transported 48,661 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.

Among these, 62 flights were operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 41 by Saudia Airlines, and 20 by Flynas Airlines.

Subject to moon sighting, the Hajj is expected to take place on June 5.

Flights carrying pilgrims to Saudi Arabia began on April 29 and will continue until May 31.

This year, a total of 87,100 Bangladeshis will travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj. Of them, 5,200 will go under government management and 81,900 under private management.

Return flights will begin on June 10, with the final return flight scheduled for July 10.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has reported that seven Bangladeshi pilgrims have died in Saudi Arabia so far.

The latest death was that of Md Ohidur Rahman, 72, from Sandwip, Chittagong, who passed away in Madinah on Wednesday.
