A high-level committee has been formed to investigate the departure of former president Abdul Hamid through Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Thailand on Wednesday.

The Chief Adviser’s Press Wing announced the formation of the committee on Sunday.

The committee is headed by Education Adviser Prof Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar.

The other members are Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan and Shipping Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hussain.

The committee has been tasked with submitting a report within the next 15 days after reviewing several issues, including how Hamid left the country through Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday; whether there was any negligence or lapse of duty by the concerned authorities; identifying individuals who failed in their responsibilities; and recommending measures that could be taken in response.

To carry out its duties, the committee has the authority to request necessary documents, equipment, and evidence, as well as to interview relevant individuals.

All agencies are obligated to comply with the committee’s directives and provide required support.

The committee may also co-opt members if it deems necessary.

The Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs will provide secretarial support to the committee.
