The National Citizen Party (NCP) is set to meet with the National Consensus Commission on Saturday.
This was confirmed in a press statement sent to the media on Friday evening by NCP Joint Member Secretary Mushfiq Us Salehin.
He said that the meeting will take place at 10:30am on Saturday.
A delegation led by the party's convener, Nahid Islam, will represent the NCP in discussions with the commission.
NCP Joint Member Secretary Mir Arshadul Haque told Dhaka Tribune: “Our party representatives will sit for discussions with the Consensus Commission. We will share our views regarding the proposed reforms, highlighting areas where we agree and where we hold differing opinions.”
Earlier, on March 24, the NCP submitted its written feedback on the reform proposals to the National Consensus Commission.
Out of the 166 reform recommendations put forward by the Commission, the NCP agreed with 113 and partially agreed with 29 others.
The National Consensus Commission launched its dialogue with political parties on March 20, aiming to build national consensus on key reform initiatives introduced by the interim government. So far, it has held discussions with 12 political parties.
Formed under the leadership of Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus, the Commission seeks to develop a unified stance on critical state reforms. Since its inception on February 15, 2025, the Commission has been working to finalize its proposals.
In the initial phase, key recommendations from five reform commissions — focused on constitutional, public administration, electoral, judicial, and anti-corruption reforms — were compiled and shared with 39 political parties for their feedback. To date, 34 parties have responded.
The National Consensus Commission aims to build nationwide agreement on the reform initiatives by mid-July.
It plans to complete the first round of talks with political parties by the first week of May, and begin the second round of discussions in the second week of the same month.
