Gagarin Science and Art Festival-2025 celebrates innovation with rocket model-making competition

Students, teachers, NGO members, and senior citizens from Dhaka and nearby areas participated in the event

The third day of the Gagarin Science and Art Festival-2025 in Dhaka featured an exciting rocket model-making competition and certificate distribution ceremony, celebrating creativity and innovation in the field of space science.

On Thursday, the Russian House in Dhaka, in cooperation with the Bangladesh Astronomical Association organized the lively competition, highlighting the participants’ ingenuity, technical skills and enthusiasm for space exploration.

Students from primary, secondary and university levels along with teachers, NGO members, and senior citizens from Dhaka and surrounding areas, took part in the event. Their paper rocket models reflected not only technical knowledge but also imagination, teamwork and a pioneering spirit inspired by Yuri Gagarin’s historic space flight.

Addressing the participants, Pavel Dvoychenkov, director of the Russian House in Dhaka, congratulated everyone on their outstanding creativity and participation.

He said: "Through today’s paper rocket-making activity, participants may one day be inspired to build real rockets or even more advanced spacecraft."

He also said: "Events like this bring young minds closer to the fascinating world of science and technology. The spirit of inquiry lives on in the next generation of explorers, engineers, and innovators."

The director renewed his commitment to supporting educational initiatives and helping Bangladeshi students pursue higher studies in Russia. He reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to strengthening cultural and educational ties between Bangladesh and Russia.

The event concluded with Mr Dvoychenkov personally awarding certificates to all participants in recognition of their innovation and success.
