A light to moderate nor’wester storm accompanied by gusty winds swept across Dhaka and several other regions of the country.
On Thursday, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) provided this information.
Meteorologist Shahnaz Sultana said that a nor’wester storm is currently passing over Dhaka.
“Wind speeds have reached up to 67km/h. Before reaching Dhaka, the storm affected the Rajshahi division. After passing through Dhaka, the storm may move towards other regions,” she added.
Reports from various areas of Dhaka indicate that most places are experiencing dust storms, as per BMD.
Drizzles have also been reported in some locations, while in other areas, strong winds have caused tree branches to break and fall, BMD added.
According to BMD, the well-marked low-pressure area over the southwest and west-central Bay of Bengal has weakened.
The extended part of the low-pressure zone has stretched up to West Bengal and neighboring regions, it said.
