The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted rain at one or two places in five divisions, including Dhaka, in the next 24 hours, starting at 9am on Wednesday.

Rain or thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty winds are likely to occur at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, according to a Met Office bulletin.

The weather is expected to remain mainly dry, with a temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere in the country, the bulletin said.

Additionally, a mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Faridpur, Sirajganj, Feni, and Jessore, and it is expected to continue.

Day temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged, while night temperatures may rise slightly across the country, the bulletin said.

Meanwhile, a well-marked low over the Southwest Bay and adjoining West-Central Bay moved northwards and now lies over the West-Central Bay and adjoining Southwest Bay as of 6am on Wednesday, according to the bulletin.

The low pressure system is expected to continue moving northwards over the next 12 hours and then shift north-northeastwards.

Additionally, a trough of low pressure lies over West Bengal and the adjoining area.
