The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted rain in several areas across seven divisions of the country, including Dhaka, within 24 hours starting from 9am on Tuesday.
“Rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions,” said a Met Office bulletin.
Additionally, a mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Faridpur, Madaripur, Jessore, Noakhali, Feni, Chittagong, Bandarban, and Rangamati, and it may abate in some areas, the bulletin added.
Day and night-time temperatures may fall slightly across the country.
Meanwhile, the low-pressure area over the central part of the South Bay moved slightly northwestward and, as of 6am on Tuesday, lies over the Southwest Bay and adjoining Southeast Bay, while a trough of low pressure extends over West Bengal and the adjoining area, according to the bulletin.
It is likely to move northwestward within the next 12 hours and is subsequently expected to shift northward, the bulletin added.
